Carara National Park and Tarcoles river
This National Park is located in the Central Pacific and is bordered by Tarcoles river. Into this protected area two different ecosystems converge, the tropical dry forets and tropical humid rainforest, this wonderful meeting produces high biodiversity. The north and south paths of the park offers good bird sighting, wildlife in general and stunning vegetation like giant wild cashew and fig trees.
Antbirds, Woodcreepers,Tinamous, Manakins, Streak-chested Antpitta, Black-faced Antthrush, Yellow-throated Toucans and Scarlet Macaws are some of the species that inhabit this intense ecosystems. The 2 hrs private boat at Tarcoles river offers great chances to see and photograph Kingfishers, Hawks, Roseate Spoonbills, Herons, Boat-billled Herons and some mangrove forest species including the endemic Mangrove Hummingbird.
This Central Pacific gem has a friendly Universal wheelchair accesible trail, designed at all age groups, children, the elderly or persons with walking difficulty.
